- JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Rescuers pulled two kayakers from Mendenhall Lake after they fell out of their kayaks Tuesday afternoon. The Juneau Empire reports the man and woman were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Capital City Fire and Rescue estimated the two were in the water for between 30 minutes and an hour, and were cold but not injured. The names of the two kayakers weren't immediately released. Capital City Fire and Rescue said it was called about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The rescue organization, in a release, said others who were with the kayakers were able to summon help from crews working on shore for Alaska Travel Adventures. The crew members picked up the kayakers and brought them to shore, where they began warming them.
