- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say a 44-year-old inmate at the Wildwood jail in Kenai reportedly was beaten by two other inmates in his cell. Troopers say the inmate told corrections officers the men entered his cell while he was sleeping, woke him up and began hitting and elbowing him on the head and back. The inmate told troopers the men stepped on one of his hands as well. Troopers say the victim felt pain and sought treatment at the medical unit; the inmate was able to identify the other two inmates, and the investigation continues. It's unclear how the two inmates got into the cell, and corrections officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The trooper handling the case also could not immediately be reached for comment.
