- JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A 42-year-old Juneau man suspected of hitting a bartender in the face with a beer glass has been indicted on felony assault counts. A Juneau grand jury Friday indicted Steve Kanan on two assault charges. Prosecutors say Kanan on Aug. 23 was drunk and causing problems at the Alaskan Hotel Bar. Bartender Annie Nelson led Kanan to an exit and asked him for the pint glass of beer in his hand. Kanan is charged with striking Nelson in the face with the glass. She required stitches for cuts between her eyes. Kanan remains jailed with bail set at $20,000. Assistant District Attorney Angie Kemp says charges were amended after her office received more information about Nelson's injuries. Assistant Public Defender Grace Lee says Kanan maintains his innocence.
