Fairbanks comes up with trucking plan for gas

- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A group of Fairbanks community leaders have come up with a distribution plan for trucking natural gas. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says the plan was drafted by Mayor Luke Hopkins, with the help of former Alaska Attorney General John Burns and Assemblywoman Nadine Winters. Under the plan, a borough utility would be charged with either facilitating or providing natural gas distribution for a trucking project if necessary. The idea comes from the findings of a state-funded natural gas distribution analysis. It found that a municipal utility would be one of the best entities to ensure gas is delivered quickly while controlling expenses.
