Juneau man cited after pit bulls attack dog, owner

- JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Juneau animal control officers have issued citations to a dog owner whose three pit bulls attacked another dog and injured its owner last week. Animal Control Supervising Officer Matt Musslewhite tells the Juneau Empire that 44-year-old John D. Stewart was issued citations for each of the dogs that attacked. They've also been declared dangerous, which means they must be restricted and monitored. Investigators say the pit bulls left a yard and attacked a 10-year-old dog being walked by 43-year-old Bridget Kuhar near the Southeast Alaska Regional Health building. Kuhar was knocked down and bit on her hands and arms as she protected her dog. Stewart suffered injuries as he tried to control the attacking dogs. A bystander helped pull the pit bulls off Kuhar's dog, which survived.
