Dec 18, 2013 -- 3:00pm
- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Two Sitka men were injured, one seriously, when a 30-foot boat grounded near Sergius Narrows. KTUU reports the boat's operator, 37-year-old Mitchell McGraw, was the one seriously injured after the boat ran aground at cruising speed on the south side of Chichagof Island. Troopers said the other passenger, 34-year-old Nicholas Galinin, had non-life threatening injuries. Troopers say the men reported the collision to the U.S. Coast Guard but were able to continue toward Sitka. A Coast Guard helicopter later picked up the two men several miles south of the narrows. The boat suffered about $30,000 damage.
