Man dies a month after Anchorage shooting

- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 22-year-old Anchorage man has died from injuries he suffered after being shot outside an East Anchorage apartment complex last month. Anchorage police say in a Wednesday statement that Jermaine Twiley died Sunday in an Anchorage hospital. Talon Draper was arrested on assault charges following the shooting early the morning of Jan. 7. At the time, the 19-year-old Draper told police he heard what sounded like a fight between a woman and a man, who was later identified as Twiley. Draper told police he grabbed a rifle, opened his door and ordered a fleeing Twiley to stop. He said he shot Twiley when he saw him reach down with his hands. Detectives continue to investigate the case.
