Juneau police to hold citizen fitness test

- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Juneau police are planning to hold a physical fitness event for citizens over the weekend. The event is set to take place Saturday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Thunder Mountain High School track. KINY says the physical fitness practice test is an opportunity for people to complete the five events that comprise the Juneau Police Department officer hiring fitness exam. Successful completion of the test includes a 300-meter run in 77.7 seconds or less, a vertical jump of at least 14 inches, at least 21 push-ups, at least 15 one-minute sit-ups and a 1  1/2-mile run in 17 minutes and 17 seconds or less. Police will be on hand to discuss the hiring process or give advice on how to train.
