Troopers make pitch to APD officers

- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - State Troopers are asking Anchorage police officers to consider a move.The Anchorage Daily News says dozens of police officers met with recruiters on Wednesday to hear what the state law enforcement agency has to offer. The recruitment drive comes in the face of an anticipated $30 million budget shortfall for Anchorage next year and speculation that police officers will have to be laid off. Wednesday's meeting was at the police union hall. Sgt. Luis Nieves told the officers that troopers are hiring and the bottom line is that Anchorage's police officers are their top candidates.
