- JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Freshmen at the University of Alaska southeast have a new dormitory to call home. The Juneau Empire reports the facility with 110 beds is opening for the fall semester. So far 95 students have signed up to live in the dorm. The building designed by MRV Architects has suites with two sets of two roommates sharing a bathroom and a kitchen. The dorm has picture windows that offer views of Auke Lake and surrounding mountains. It also features a common area, closed-off study spaces and a meeting room. Most of the students signed up for the dorm are from Alaska but about 20 other states are represented.
