Anchorage police issue alert after bear wounded

- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Residents of the Anchorage Hillside neighborhood are being warned Wednesday morning after a bear was shot and wounded overnight. The Anchorage Daily News reports the bear was shot after getting into a chicken coop. Police tweeted the warning, noting concern for children going to school and joggers. Officers responded about 2 a.m. Wednesday after a homeowner shot the bear after it got into the chicken coop. Police tracked the bear via a blood trail but lost it a few hours later.
