Troopers say double shooting started with accident

- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say a 20-year-old Fairbanks man apparently killed himself last week after accidentally shooting a friend. Christopher Carter died Thursday, a day after the shootings in an apartment west of the city. His roommate, 21-year-old Philip Villa, remains in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says investigators had little initial information about Villa's circumstances. They now believe he was shot accidentally and that Carter then turned the gun on himself.  The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Carter was a graduate of North Pole High School and an Army reservist training as a medic at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
