- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A Montana man faces a charge of attempted murder after a man's throat was slit in an Alaska bar fight. A grand jury handed up the charge against Lance Johnson of Poulson, Mont. He was previously charged with second-degree assault. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Johnson has pleaded not guilty to both charges, and was released on $25,000 bail. Police say the victim is lucky to be alive after he suffered a gash of 5 to 6 inches on his throat. The knife wound did not hit any major arteries or veins. The Nov. 10 incident was caught by security cameras at the Arctic Bar in Fairbanks. Fairbanks police say Johnson attacked the man without any apparent provocation. A hearing is set for Jan. 24.
