- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Security is being reviewed at schools in the Anchorage School District following the elementary school shooting in Connecticut. The Anchorage Daily News says principals and staff are being reminded to stay vigilant. District officials say for the most part school went on as usual on Monday. Some teachers held meetings in class so that students could talk about the Connecticut school shooting. Police, school officials and the teachers' union all say the Anchorage School District has security procedures in place that include regular emergency drills. However, the school in Connecticut had a higher level of security. Visitors to that school had to be buzzed into the locked front door — something that is not in place in Anchorage.
