Anchorage fines, fares and fees to remain same

Dec 20, 2012 -- 10:47am

- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The Anchorage Assembly has voted after all to keep fares, fees and fines for city services the same in 2013. The Assembly earlier this week took back $2.5 million in fee increases scheduled to go into effect in January. The Anchorage Daily News reports that instead the city will spend one-time tax revenues collected in 2012 that were intended for the Anchorage School District. Without the move by the Assembly, ambulance fees would have gone from $300 a trip to $700 a trip. Bus fares would have risen by 25 cents to $2. And rides for seniors and people with disabilities would have gone from $1 to $4.
