- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A light earthquake has occurred near the spot where a major temblor struck over the weekend in Southeast Alaska. The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says the quake occurred at 5:46 a.m. Tuesday and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.0. It was centered 98 miles west-northwest of Craig, close to where Saturday's powerful magnitude-7.5 earthquake struck. That earthquake prompted a tsunami warning for hundreds of miles of coastline in Alaska and Canada. The alert was canceled when no damaging waves were generated. Tuesday temblor likely was an aftershock - one of several that occurred since Saturday.
