- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Veteran musher Ed Stielstra has scratched from the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Race officials say Stielstra of McMillian, Mich., was injured training his dog team in late February. Race officials say he decided to scratch then but wanted to fulfill his duties during the race's ceremonial start Saturday. He scratched Saturday afternoon at the Campbell Airstrip in Anchorage. Stielstra has finished the Iditarod seven times, including 25th place last year. He also finished in the top 30 two other years. His Iditarod winnings total just under $15,000.
