- SITKA, Alaska (AP) - Runway work in Sitka has resulted in the monthlong cancellation of two of Alaska Airlines' daily flights serving Sitka. The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports the canceled flights are Flight 70, which typically arrives around 11 p.m., and Flight 73, which leaves at 6 a.m. daily. Both flights go through Juneau. State transportation department spokesman Jeremy Woodrow says the department is working with the airline to coordinate schedules. The runway work is scheduled to continue through July but Woodrow says May was set aside for the work that requires the runway to be clear of traffic for several hours. According to the Alaska Airlines website, Flight 70 is scheduled to resume May 24. Flight 73 is scheduled to resume May 25.
