- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A 21-year-old Fairbanks man was sentenced to one year behind bars after pleading guilty to attempted sexual assault. Marcos Efrain Camacho entered the guilty plea to the misdemeanor charge on Friday. He must turn himself into the Fairbanks Correctional Center by May 15 to begin his term, and will have to register as a sex offender for 15 years. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that the victim told police Camacho put his hands in her pants while she yelled "no" and tried to pull away on a dance floor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The newspaper says the victim didn't know Camacho before the dance in January. Camacho's lawyer, Bill Satterberg, says Camacho is "a fine young man" and hopefully has learned from the incident.
