Soldotna considers its own disclosure rules

Soldotna is discussing its own disclosure rules. Soldotna lawmakers are preparing to seek voter permission to adopt their own guidelines for financial disclosure rather than comply with state statutes. An ordinance was expected to be introduced by the Soldotna City Council last night that describes the new requirements as "intrusive and unreasonable." The Alaska Legislature - faced with allegations of corruption in 2007 - toughened financial disclosure requirements for public officials and candidates for elective office.
