JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Alaska state Sen. Lora Reinbold has been removed as Senate Judiciary Committee chair. Monday’s Senate vote came 91 days into a legislative session in which Reinbold has clashed with fellow Republicans, including Gov. Mike Dunleavy and other Senate majority members. Reinbold suggested the Dunleavy administration played a role in getting her removed as chair and pleaded with senators to stand with her. The committee change was approved 17-1, with Reinbold the lone no. Senate President Peter Micciche says the change had nothing to do with the administration and was unrelated to COVID-19 protocols Reinbold has bristled against. He says the “vast majority” of the Republican-led caucus has had concerns.
